CIO

putting the I back in cIO

Determine who the data owners are and what their requirements are for the data critical for day to day business.

strategy

While commonly done by IT departments they are unsuitable for such ownership as their role is to provide the infrastruture needed to present and use data not determine what data is used.

IT’s proper role is the good health, reslience, redundancy and Security of Information Systems

The ‘I’ in CIO intended to be the information – that is The Data. The concept behind the orignal proposal for CIO was to create a role independent of the Information Systems Manager and the individual Data owners such as Sales, Fulfilment and Customer Service.

There will always be some conflict between these departments on which data matters and which customer name and address for example is used – where and when.

CLEAN & PREPARE

Provide IT like tools and experience to the data owners so they preapre the data for upload or drip transactions into the new system.
